My company has thirty employees. Do we really need to employ a full time IT manager?

You are smart to ask that question. Companies with less than fifty employees usually save substantial money by using a qualified contract company, like Michigan Technology Services. Many small companies require less than five hours a week of tech support, and quite a bit of it can be done remotely.

We do work with larger companies - helping them realize the true benefits that technology implementations provide. Several of our consultants work with fortune 500 companies.

Why work with Michigan Technology Services?

We know it can be hard to determine who to work with, who to trust with your business. In short, we want you to succeed. And we have helped numerous companies and individuals excel. Do we know everything? No. If anybody tells you they do, alarms should sound. Nobody in technology knows everything. Nobody in technology is an expert. Don't let that statement frighten you. Technology is constantly moving forward. With technology everybody is a student - but our tech staff has been studying the material for a long, long time. And they are constantly upgrading their skill-sets by attending training sessions and industry seminars. That being said our team consists of certified, qualified techs. So we are honest, hard working, tech savvy people who are dedicated to your success.

What can I do to protect my computer or computer network?

A little preventive maintenance will probably help you avert a major headache. For starters, make sure you have a surge suppressor for each computer. You should have virus protection. There are many providers of anti-virus software, and differing opinions on which one is best. What is agreed upon is that you should have it. You should also have spyware/adware protection. Again, there are many providers of this type of software, and differing opinions on which one is best, but what is agreed upon is that you should have it. If you are using a cable modem or DSL to connect to the Internet use a firewall! You should also make sure that all OS updates and patches have been applied to your computer. If all of this is Greek to you we can help. Call us for a more thorough explanation. And by the way, having some computer training classes helps a lot too.

Why get computer training?

Most people get computer training because they need to obtain a specific skill. And after trying to teach themselves they realize that having somebody instruct them is a much better option, as computer skills aren't always as intuitive as you'd like to believe. But there are additional reasons why you should take computer training classes. If you are thinking about a new career, computer skills are a necessity. And if you are already an IT professional, sitting through advanced computer courses and obtaining the latest technical skills generally makes you more valuable to the company you work for - increasing job security, and at times, salary.

Why provide computer training for your employees?

How about productivity? Properly trained employees do their jobs much more effectively. Providing basic skills to the office staff will probably result in fewer calls to the help desk, freeing up your technical team, allowing them to concentrate on more pressing issues. Furthermore, training your IT professionals will allow the organization to enjoy the full the benefits that a computer network provides.

How about employee loyalty? Surveys often show that employees value skill development as much as they value an increase in salary.

If you want to learn about all the different computer courses and how they can benefit your organization, Michigan Technology Services will provide free IT training consultation to you or your staff. Call and we will arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

What is Data Recovery?

Sometimes a hard drive fails. Maybe there was a shock to the PC. Maybe the files were accidentally deleted. Maybe (hopefully not) a fire destroyed your office. Sometimes it just happens. Data Recovery is the process of retrieving the lost information. Yes, at times the data can be recovered .

Why have a professional web site developed?

Your web site is a representation of your company. Often it's the first point of contact a customer has with you. There are cheap sites for $ 250, but you run the risk of looking really, really cheap, as those developers often use canned templates. Investing in a web site for your business shows seriousness of commitment.
